A night to remember..

Last night Bec and I attended a contemporary dance company's perfomance here in NYC. The company is called Cedar Lake and they are absolutely stunning!! They performed Deca Dance, choreographed and set on them by Ohad Naharinn. He is the artistic director of Bec's favorite company, Batsheva Dance Company in Israel. I wish I could describe how amazing and beautiful their movements were.. it was breathtaking!!!

I was just sitting back enjoying the show when all the dancers dressed in suits walked off stage and into the audience. I tried to avoid eye contact as I saw them each pulling a partner from the audience. I'm never the one to volunteer to go up on stage for those kinds of things, so I was relieved when I thought I was safe. Before I knew it Will was extending his hand to me and escorting me to the stage. At first I just enjoyed watching him dance right in front of and around me, but then I just decided to enjoy the moment and do a little jig. The music stopped and I asked if I was done, Will said no and that I was part of the whole act, but he would take care of me. hehe. Anyway, I had a fun time on stage dancing around with a professional dancer...luckily Bec was the only person I knew there to watch my silly moves. She warned me before the performance that it would be different than anything I had ever experienced... I just didn't know I would be a part of the performance. It was a great night!!

Let's go to the movies...

I love to watch movies with Bec. She's introduced me to some great old movies. I think the most memorable movie watching experience with Bec was in the the SLC airport on our way out here. We were about four hours early for our flight and they wouldn't let us check in. We decided to watch a movie and it was a little too loud watching it on the chairs with lots of people around. So we found a little corner and put together this nice set up (we would have gladly given up the wheel chair if someone needed it, but we mostly just got laughs from airport workers walking by). :)

Happy June 16th!

Lindsey and I checked out South Seaport on Saturday night and found another great part of town. It was fun to celebrate a random day with the Brooklyn philarmonic and fireworks! They even gave us cool glasses that made all the lights look like the target logo..yeah for target!! (too bad I can't find one in this huge city!)

Friday FUN Day

Yesterday Lindsey and I decided to be tourists and check out the Today show for the Enrique concert. I can't believe what we went through just to get a little closer to the star! I felt like a star struck teenager screaming for Enrique, even though I haven't heard his music since I was in highschool. But it was still fun to be silly dancing around, taking pictures and trying to get my two seconds of fame on T.V. Oh and now I have a crush on Enrique.

haha, I don't know who that lady is, but there wasn't much time to get pictures with Matt... so I just took one while he was smiling for this one.

Dad posted this picture from their wedding 30 years ago. I wanted to post it on my blog also...soooo beautiful!! Have a fun trip Mom and Dad!

Celebrity sightings

Today I went to my first ballet class at Steps on Broadway! It will not be my last- I loved it! I am definitley out of ballet shape, but it was so fun to dance again. After my class I was watching an advanced class and saw lots of professional dancers. One I recognized was Maria Kowroski, a principle dancer for New York City ballet. She has always been my one of my favorite dancers from reading about her and seeing pictures in dance magazines. She is so beautiful! I saw her the other day walking around in our neighborhood. It's such a treat to be among such talented people, especially those I've admired for years!

Here are our latest attempts to brighten up our little place...

I like it!!!

Picnic in the Park

On Saturday Bec, Lindsay (our new friend from the ward) and I had a little picnic in the park. It was a beautiful day and tons of people were out to enjoy the sun. If you love to people watch- this is the place to do it! A highlight of the lunch was eating my first sweet pluot- a mix between a plum and apricot-mmmm!! Delicious! Also for those of you that don't know, I've been known to have things hit me in the head. Basically my head attracts footballs, basketballs, soccerballs, etc! Well the bad luck continued at the park as I was enjoying a pb sandwhich and got hit in the head by a frisbee!! haha! It was a great day.

Living it up in NYC

Last night Bec and I played tour guides to a big group of guys from Rexburg. They are out here selling security systems in Virginia. In just five hours we visited Times Square, Ground Zero, Hudson River park to view the Statue of Liberty, the Empire State Building (including a virtual skyride) and ended the night with a limo ride through Times Square (standing up out of the sun roof cheering, music and everything). It was a fun and eventful night! Especially since we never do those things while living here. I'd love to be a tour guide again (wink wink).
